Each month the crafters at The Perfect Touch choose a special cause and donate 10% of all sales to that cause.  In addition, several crafters combine their resources to create a parasol representing that cause.  The full purchase price of the parasol is also donated to the cause of choice.  The Heart Remembers parasol is dedicated to Alzheimer's Research and Prevention.  Alzheimer's disease affects so many wonderful people and can be devastating to families as memories are slowly lost.  The purple Alzheimer's Awareness color is represented in this parasol created by Lady Jeanette.  Additional pictures can be seen here:

 

 

The outside of the parasol is covered with a softly gathered lilac and white re-embroidered net lace surrounding a center oval of the same lace.  The finial is surrounded by individually cut lace flowers with lilac silk ribbon tied into bows and the trailing ribbon ends sewn in place.  Around the oval gathers are more silk ribbon bows which are like the little ribbon reminders we would tie on our finger so we wouldn't forget something important.  A purple Alzheimer's Awareness ribbon with an individual net lace bow and a smaller silk lilac ribbon finish the outside.

 

The base parasol fabric has been shaped into scallops at each of the six panels creating a beautiful silhouette in the light.  There is a 7" drop edging of softly gathered white net lace around the outside edge.

 

The underside of the parasol is covered with the same softly gathered lilac and white re-embroidered net lace with a 6" circle of fully gathered white net lace in the center.

 

The wooden handle is tied with 4 lilac silk ribbon bows and the parasol closes with an unattached purple satin ribbon.

 

Dimensions are 32 inches long and 26 inches across when fully open.
