Victorian Roses 1880's Ballgown
Inspired by an 1884 fashion plate of a ballgown by Mme Coussinet, rue Richer in La Mode Illustree and perfectly recreated by Lady Leigh of House of PoLeigh Naise, this ballgown is both stunning and yet easily wearable for dancing.  The underskirt is a base of black sequinned and thread embroidered linen with sparkle and depth.  The front of the underskirt has four panels of breath-taking rose and sage embroidered Tambour lace.  The separate overskirt is a rose-colored and rose-patterned silk with black rose applique where the front gathers into the back at each side.  The sides and back of the overskirt are overlaid with a rose embroidered black net. The ends of the overskirt tie over the bustle with twin draperies.  The bodice is a work of art with alternating panels of the rose silk and black sequinned and embroidered linen.  It is finished with a black rose applique and a drapery of the Tambour lace.  A removable floral sash adorns the right side of the overskirt.  Black venice lace is laid down the center of a sage satin ribbon and then covered with ivory blossoms and hand-made pink satin roses.  A chocker of black venice lace ending in sage satin ribbon ties and tiny pink satin roses is also included.

Measurements are bust to 40 inches, waist to 32 inches, skirt length 41 inches.  The bodice is lightly boned.  No alterations are available.  Dry Cleaning Recommended.
