Victorian children had garments no less beautiful than their parents. Inspired by a fashion plate in Harper's Bazar May 6, 1882 and recreated by Lady Jeanette, this ensemble will be every little lady's favorite. The coat is crafted from deep pink satin using a period correct pattern. It is fully lined with natural muslin. A deeper pink Alencon lace is hand-stitched to all edges and on the pockets. A smaller touch of white lace with pink insertion finishes the lower edge of the pockets. Pink buttons with engraved roses close the front. A satin bow with organza and satin roses embellishes the back above the triple pleats.
The sweet hat started with a natural straw form which has been painted white. The same Alencon lace used on the coat has been hand-stitched to the brim and a rose cut from the lace is sewn on the crown. A pink satin hatband ends at the back in a bow and peaked tail. A small pink ostrich feather has been curled and is attached under a circle of organza and satin roses. The hat ties with 4 satin ribbons which are attached to the underside of the hat with a touch of the same organza and satin roses.
The back length of the coat is 18 inches, and the back width is 9 inches. The hat is 10 inches across.
